Women in Construction Week: Weitz Recognizes Women Employees
This past week marked the 25th annual Women in Construction Week, an occasion for construction firms of all sizes across the country show their support for women employees and the recognize the contributions woman have made throughout the industry. Weitz is proud to take part in this weeklong celebration every year and dedicate time to recognize our talented roster of women and their impact on the success of our company and projects. Weitz firmly believes diversity on our team makes our company stronger in every way.
Women in Construction Week (WIC) was initially launched in 1998 by the National Association of Women in Construction as an effort to shed light on the vital contributions made by women in the construction industry. With this mission in mind, our Weitz offices used this week to pause and recognize the amazing women across our company. Below are some highlights from WIC week at The Weitz Company:

Appreciation Events
Our headquarter office kicked off WIC week strong, providing a lunch and appreciation tokens in recognition of our women workers. These events provided a great opportunity to get the entire staff together and show appreciation for the women on our teams.
Recognition & Reflection
Our Iowa office hosted a Coffee and Convos event this week to set time aside to reflect on all the amazing work women do in our industry. Employees met and discussed just what it meant to be a woman in construction and called out all their amazing contributions.
Building the Next Generation
Our Omaha office took time this week to give back and grow the next generation of women in the construction industry. Kei’lah Sadler, project engineer at The Weitz Company, read books to a preschool class at Meadows Elementary School. One of the books was “Princess Truly: I Can Build It” which talks about a princess who loves engineering and construction in honor of Women in Construction Week! Meadows Elementary School (Ralston Public Schools) is one of our many active K-12 project sites across Omaha.
Site tours & Celebration
Our Arizona office celebrated WIC week with a special team bonding opportunity for the women in the office. Our women employees were given a jobsite tour of our Raintree jobsite and participated in some post-tour celebrations in recognition of their exceptional women team members.
