Fort Des Moines Historic Renovation

This project included the historical renovation of seven barrack buildings and three stables into apartments equaling 142 Residential Units. The project renovated seven old barracks and three horse stables, which ironically were originally built by The Weitz Company between 1901 and 1910. Modern day efforts rejuvenated these buildings, which had deteriorated into abandoned eyesores, into apartments, all while preserving the historical fabric such as existing windows, doors, hard wood floors, and plaster walls. It was crucial to the success of the project to reuse as much of the building remnants as possible to preserve the history of the buildings.
