Kansas City Airport New Single Terminal Project Recognized with Industry Awards
Weitz is thrilled to announce that the Kansas City International (MCI) Airport New Single Terminal recently received multiple prestigious awards in recognition of its innovative design, construction, and engineering excellence. The Weitz Company and their joint venture partners completed the New Single Terminal project early last year, and since then the structure has been continuously recognized nationally for its landmark achievement in overall construction, design, sustainability, and more.
On November 15, 2024, the Design-Build Institute of America Mid-America Region (DBIA-MAR) honored our project with two top accolades:
- Commercial Excellence Award 2024
- Project of the Year 2024
Additionally, on October 8, 2024, the project received the Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement (OCEA) Honor Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). This award recognizes projects that best illustrate superior civil engineering skills and represent a significant contribution to civil engineering progress.
These awards celebrate Weitz’s commitment to delivering world-class facilities through collaboration, innovation, and expertise. This achievement highlights the project’s role as a benchmark in the aviation construction sector.
The Kansas City New Single Terminal represents a modern gateway for travelers, offering enhanced passenger experiences and efficiency while setting new standards for design-build project delivery. These awards are a testament to the hard work and collaboration of the entire project team, including engineers, architects, contractors, and stakeholders.
Weitz is proud to see this project recognized as an outstanding contribution to the Kansas City community and the broader aviation construction industry. Thank you to DBIA-MAR and ASCE for this incredible honor!
